Anthurium Forgetii

Anthurium forgetii is a species of plant in the genus Anthurium native to Colombia. Kept in cultivation for its round leaves that lack a sinus and have silver veining, it is thought to be epiphytic.

 Care

Light: Anthurium forgetii should be placed in a bright location that receives indirect sunlight.  

Water: Check your plant weekly.  Your plant will let you know when it is thirsty. Watch for dull looking leaves, drooping stems, leaf curl, and a super lightweight pot.  The environment that your anthurium lives in will determine the watering needs (light, ambient temperature, and humidity)  Do not let sit in excess water as they are quite prone to root rot.

Temperature/Humidity: Anthurium plants will thrive in a higher humid environment. 60%-70% would be ideal for a happy plant!  As with most aroids and tropical plants 18°C-25°C (64-77°F) is ideal for growing.

Soil/Potting: Some say that this plant is an epiphyte meaning that at home it will benefit from a chunky orchid potting medium.  Barck, peat moss, perlite, and charcoal will work nice. 

Care Tips:  Always check on your plants on a weekly basis or if you're like me daily!  Your plant is very good at telling you when it is thirsty, battling pests, or in need of food.  The environment in which your plant lives will always dictate the frequency of watering,  The amount of light, the ambient temperature, and humidity will all determine how much water your plant uses.  A good rule of thumb is to try and imagine where your plant comes from in the wild and try to recreate that environment in your home.
